Networking. Education. Technology.

It has become increasingly apparent that EDUCATION is a serious challenge that we as South Africans need to address if we are to see a brighter future in this country. Specifically the quality of education of primary and high schools. If the majority of the country is struggling how are we to create this bright future we are all eager and and hoping for?

Furthermore the importance of teaching critical and creative thinking as well as practical problem solving has become even more important than ever. We see so many young people (students at schools and universities rioting, fighting, arguing etc... where does this hostile behavior come from? Why can't people learn to be more civilized and approach their problems more mindfully, morally and creatively? The simple answer is that the subjects of creative and critical thinking, as well as practical problem solving do not feature in most school curriculum.

This is a serious challenge for South Africa and for the economic and social future of this country. It is imperative to ensure that we invest far more into education (quality education). This is not an impossible challenge but will require far more effort than is done so at the moment.

Most of all we need to grow up and become more mature. It surprises me that with all the environmental problems humanity has to face and yet to face we still find time for corruption, crime, poor standards, racism, sexism, intolerance bad decision making and general mediocrity. The tragedy that occurred in Haiti just a short while ago with their earthquake is perhaps a sober reminder of the fragility of our lifestyle.

It is time to become far more tolerant of some things (virtues, diversity, cultures) and far LESS TOLERANT of other things (Crime, corruption, poor or lack of service delivery, injustice, poor standards). If we are not mindful now then when should we be?

In an effort to help people improve their quality of thinking and problem solving I have written a book on practical problem solving and personal leadership presented in a very digestible and easy to read format with plenty of tools and checklists to refer back to.
