About me
I am an entrepreneur with a passion for helping people make their lives easier - specifically finding and flourishing in careers that they love.
I believe strongly in work-life balance and flexible working lifestyles that can accommodate family and other interests (although I am still working on getting this 100% right for myself!).
Through Freelancentral I help creative industry freelancers to promote themselves to attract more clients and this year (2008) have started workshops to help teach them good business practice. Flying Solo is a spin-off of this and I became involved at the invitation of Pam Sykes and Walter Pike - together with Max Kaizen and Jamaal Khan we have started running 'unconferences' in various locations in SA where soloists can get together for a day to share ideas and experience. Needless to say, collaboration and networking is a by-product.
Femtrepreneurs came about following my selection for an incredible 'empowering women in ICT' programme, which started with a three-week intensive training course in the US and is followed by 18 months of monthly mentoring and peer group facilitation. Part of my role on that programme is to spread the knowledge I gained in the US to women ICT entrepreneurs - both current and aspiring - in SA, so I have taken the lead in launching www.femtrepreneurs.com in order to provide an online platform for this.
I'm a bit of a nerd who loves to learn - and being an entrepreneur teaches me something new daily. I also meet far more and interesting people now that I no longer work in an ad agency!
