Hi Phomello! Welcome to the network. I hope you find it useful. I must say, I agree with your statement: being part of of a smart network makes us all smarter.

Welcome Phomello. I think we all would like to get a bit smarter. Connecting globally and sharing ideas is a great way!

Thank You...Andrea

To complement what You're saying...I think most importantly is to implement the ideas we share...as I strongly feel that too many brilliant ideas are accumulating tons of dust...

Thank you, Phomello.

Im humbled. It is, indeed, very important that we use the platform to share ideas and hopefully something that can be translated into tangible will emerge as a result.
Credit to yourself and many other people on Huddlemind who have been the catalyst of knowledge sharing.

It is good to begin by celebrating our successes. Nando's, Investec, MTN have infused commodity products/services with the flame of creativity. Redespresso is the first tea in the world to give an espresso experience. Joule is an electric car developed without the billons of big auto. Alternative Dispute Resolution in SA is world class & often world leading. Ogilvy in Cape Town handle accounts globally like Castrol, our ad industry is regarded as in the world's top 5, handbags made from recycled materials by disadvantaged, diabled women from Cape townships are sported at the Oscars - & so it goes. The visioning process Freedthinkers recently facilitated for Cape Town crystallised the sentiments expressed into: "Africa's Global City. The City of Inspiration & Innovation". Raher than moan & groan about what is not, recognise, honour & celebrate what is. And then there will be more.

I'm not discrediting SA as a "land of potential", I'm just saying that much more can be done if we work together for a common goal, I just strongly feel that SA industry and the turnkey stakeholders i.e. science institutes, manufacturers etc are too "spread apart" and there's very little connecting them or bringing them together. For example: 1. how often do You here about JV-developments within SA industry 2. How competitive are our industries compared to their global counterparts 3. What's the pace of innovation compared to global players like Germany, Japan, USA etc

According to a USA study, SA falls within group of countries with the least patent registrations!

it's as if we're not innovation conscious as a nation, we depent too much on the "West" and the "East" to come up with the "Next Big Thing", more like we have this "underdog complex"...

To complement what You said...SA's one of the leading Arms developers in the world, I mean no chopper can touch the Rooivark and the Rooikat is unmatched in land combat I'll spare our impressive laser-guided missile tech for another time...

Perhaps the point I'm shooting is that SA has the capacity to give current world leaders a "Hell of a run" for their money...we should STOP looking down at our selves and start working together to achieve more!!!!

Why Bloody Not??????????

It needs a massive investment and commitment from the state to develop an industry to the level of global competitiveness. Arms industry has been favoured and nurtured in this country for decades (for historic reasons) which resulted in its success. Or, the Silicon Valley cluster in US yielded great innovations in IT.
It must be planned i.e. back door / garage development without outside support works to a certain level only, which is not the kind of competitiveness we are looking for.

Regarding the repositioning of SA. I think some key strengths that are globally relevant today:
Leading change; nurturing diversity; leapfrogging dirty technology (e.g. skipping landlines but straight to mobile).... sure there's lots else.
Anyway, I still think "the Rainbow Nation" is a better slogan than the current "alive with possibility", which is too generic.

How Vectron can benefit your business? That depends on your level of reliance on a stable POS system to conduct your business, or the business of your clients. Vectron POS's key focus in design is to equate the longest, most efficient and functional lifecycle for a POS system period.

Vectron POS implementation within any industry is beneficial due to it's nature of efficiency, and fully customizable control it can provide in running anything from a Hair salon to a Hotel, obviously covering bars, pubs, clubs, retail clothing, restaurants or an auto parts asset store. Such as the Vectron system used at BMW and Audi in Germany.

Vectron POS is an advance German engineered non-PC based POS system, there is no conventional PC hardware failure downtime, as it makes use of no moving parts, such as CPU fans, Hard disks, etc.

The system is designed to operate in a fully customizable cluster environment, what this means is, that in a typical POS environment where a particular failure in a single server system could bring down the house so to speak. Vectron POS just keeps on running. If the network were to go down, the individual Vectron POS systems are able to carry on in operation and re sync all transactional information once back online. They also have a 5 year transactional history recording capability and typically boast a hardware lifespan of 10 years.

Vectron's largest retail-chain customer is a hair-salon in europe, that makes use of our cluster technology to manage over 1500 stores from a central location, this Vectron POS solution allows for centralized stock management and control.

Vectron also offer full integration into beverage and bar control product, we can basically make it that not a drop of alcohol has been served until it is rung up on the POS... Not a drop!

We are also the leading technology in Mobile POS, with their Vectron Mobile PRO. Offering a light magnesium alloy cased mobile POS solution that is completely water proof.

To find out more, goto our website http://www.vectron.co.za and have a look at the product brochures and videos. If you are situated in Cape Town, we can offer you a demonstration of the products, alternatively if JHB, we can provide you with details of installed systems which you can view.

So what can Vectron do for you?

There's some crazy operations systems being developed these days..just wish they were more easily available for young business (they generally come with a shiny price tag)..A good friend of mine is at IBM,they have some great systems to offer! He's actaully here on Huddle Mind (Robbie White) - might be good chatting to him..

Good Morning!
Glad to see you are sold, there seriously is no other way to do business!
The question on cost is too open ended for me to give you an accurate price on what you require. We typically need to assess your requirements and come up with a proposal that will meet your needs. We have an incredibly extensive product range. The best way to move forward would be for you to have a meeting with our GM, Jitesh Nanda. He is often in JHB for various other meetings and I am sure he would gladly meet up with you to discuss your business plan in detail so that we can propose a solution accordingly.

Kind regards

Rox
